In January, Muskoka property owners should have received notice in the mail of the District of Muskoka’s Second Home Survey. Please take a moment to fill in this important survey. Survey closes February 27th.

The Second Home Survey is conducted every few years and helps municipal governments better understand trends in second home use and get a more complete picture of the impact on community services. Questions cover everything from the size and age of the home to future plans for year-round living, as well as how many people use the residence and how frequently. The information helps the District and the six area municipalities anticipate changes in health care, solid waste management, road use, and more. Information collected is used to allocate resources and services and to determine how many representatives from each of Muskoka’s 6 municipalities will sit on District Council.

While permanent resident count is available from the census, second home count relies on this survey. Thank you for helping the District get an accurate count.

If you don’t want to fill in the survey on-line, you can pick up print copies at any local library in Muskoka or the 70 Pine Street District office in Bracebridge. You can also have a copy mailed to you by calling 705-645-2100 x 4288.

Only one survey should be filled out per household. Personally identifiable information will not be collected, and the data provided will only be used on an aggregate basis.
