MUSKOKA NEEDS YOU!! Call for Candidates

Several councillors and mayors have made the difficult decision not to run again in the Muskoka municipal election in October.  Now, more than ever, Muskoka faces threats from irresponsible development that threaten our lakes and our experience of Muskoka now and for future generations.   We need councillors who prioritize the environment, responsible taxation and responsible planning and building on our shorelines.

We need you!

If you are interested in running for Council in Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, Township of Muskoka Lakes or Seguin, please contact us at or your local municipal clerk’s office.

Candidates must be:

  • a resident or non-resident owner or tenant of land in the municipality, or the spouse of such non-resident owner or tenant;
  • a Canadian citizen and at least 18 years of age; and
  • not legally prohibited from voting, and not disqualified by any legislation from holding municipal office.
To run for election, you must file nomination papers with your municipal Clerk and pay a fee of $100 for Town/Township or District Councillor and $200 for Mayor.

You must also have an Endorsement of Nomination paper with 25 signatures.

Nominations will be accepted by the Clerk from May 2nd to August 19th at 2pm.
